Operators voices 27th O-QRP-Contest (02./03. January 2010)
Hello QRPers,
here a word from us wedged in between soccer and the next OQRP Contest.
There is still one week to wake the QRP rig from hibernation and prepare
it for deployment 5 days hence.

Voices from the 27th Original QRP Contest (2nd/3rd January 2010)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Stole myself away to the station for a few minutes. DL9OE
Very poor 80m conds here tonight. Deep QSB, 579 signals almost disappear
in the next over. QRN on top. I heard many stations, but it was difficult to
work them, what with one station vanishing into the noise, only to be replaced
by another one. PA3CRC
I have not much time for our great hobby, but the OQRP contest is always a
fixed date for me. Thanks to all the contest team. DL4VBN
Thanks again for organizing the OQRPC. Always fun to meet fellow QRP fans.
Happy 2010. ON6NW
Cool contest. Took part for the second time. A pity digital modes tresspass
ever further into the CW subband. Against 1000w or more of RTTY I can't hold
my own. Pleased to find stations are spending time to listen for signals
"below the turf". Tks to all. DK1AX
Regrettably not much time. I parked myself on DL9GEN and used his three
different dipoles. DL9GWA
Discover the opportunities! Tks to all hams with good ears, RX, ant. Until
next year, hopefully with a better aerial. DL5JAG
With another aerial, pointing away from the interference, I nuzzled myself
sufferably through the contest. DF3OL
New CW op here, first time in contest (5w). G9XYZ
Had fun despite some tedium. Reactivated my K1, rarely used since I own a
K2. My furthest contact was W8KJ, Dewey in Ohio - made me very happy. DL2SBA
Good conditions today, no QRM. 73 and thank you for this contest. F5ZV
Sorry, mixed with YV contest 2009. LZ1FJ
The station was set up in the garden, right on the snow. WX was clear,
about -10C. Battery could not endure the cold and was fully depleted in less
than 30 minutes of operation. Anyway, I enjoyed QRP-ing in such condx. 72! :)
EU3EU
Great fun but must find more time for the next one, thanks. G0BPU
Was great fun. DK3WM
Hung up my Bazooka after an 18 months long absence, and dug in for a short
while. Will do this oftener now. DF5WI
Sadly only a few VLP stations this time. Almost all were QRP. DL4HG
Several contest instalments without joining the fun so missed you a lot :-)
Antenna failed to work on 80m, and no QSO there.. EA5EF
Some very strong QRP/VLP stations at times on 20m but lots of QRN/QSB too!
GW0VSW
A thank you to all friends who organise this contest. Taking part is what
counts. OE6WTD
In the evening hours the active aerial at the K2's RX input preeminently
won out on a plasma TV set. As to conds, the weakest stations also had the
best ears. Was real fun again. DL7ULK
The event was fun again, however conds weren't so good in the Jena area.
My impression is the basic noise is always increasing. DL1AVH
Nice contest again, bad RTTY interference however. OH1WX
Only little time but big fun, poor condx on 20. DL4MAQ
To go on! HA8LNT
Activated my old home made TRX, otherwise acting as 6m back-end, for the
OQRPC. It indeed has only an SSB filter, but this gives me the advantage of
hearing the CQ caller next door, hi. DL5ANS
This OQRPC I tested a recently finished BEMASter transceiver in a contest
environment. Despite my limited time everything worked fine, so I had the
opportunity to greet many "old" QRP radio friends in the new year. DL7UWE
After a long absence another entry of mine, and as usual in the VLP class.
Had big fun, as always. DK2WL
Heard many stns, e.g. EI, Z3 etc., but it is a hard job with VLP. DJ3GE
For several years I didn't enter the OQRP contest. But in remembrance of
DJ7ST I wanted to have another go. Was fun as always. I was pleased to hear
stations like SM5IMO, MI0BPB, or G3VIP, and being able to work them, too.
Until next time. DL2NH
Large skip zone, stations outside the centre of activity (DL) had a
distinct advantage. 40m was hashed up even below 7030kHz by screen operators
suffering form dyslexia concerning the band plan. DK3UZ
Again a fine contest to being the new year. This time my home brew 80m TRX
finished last winter on a Moskita PCB could show off its class at last. DL3GER
Was again lots of fun to be among like-minded friends. DL6AWJ
Many operators used RST 599 when they had difficulty in reading the
callsign. A report of 339 would have been much more accurate. Great difficulty
in UK on 40m on Saturday evening. Much QRN. G0WHO
Propagation was pretty good especially on 20m on Sunday. Again, it was
really nice to take part in this contest. OH5JJL
Unfortunately I had to stop early. My antenna type G5RV-JUNIOR broke. It
has been hung up again by now. Will be better next year. PA3ANN
No short skip to DL from SM. Shortest skip was northern Italy! SM6FPC
My first bigger activity after losing my father last August, and quite
enjoyed both the QRP wintersports and the OQRP contest. A good things these
events are separated. A good test for my new vertical for 30 & 40m too (on
40 that is). PA9RZ
Thanks for the contest and a have a Very Happy New Year. MI0BPB
I'm mostly VHF man and I participated for the first time in this great
contest. Looks good without extremly strong signals...no QRM. Big fun... I
used my old HF Atlas 350xl radio without PA, (I'm using it only for the base
equipment for my 6m/2m transverters). I have some home made QRP transceivers
but never finished... See you next year with home made radio. YU2DX
Sri few QSOs, poor propagation. EA4OA
Lots of QRM on 40m from RTTY contest. Had to work at the weekend so only a
few hours for the contest. EI8FH
HNY to all, tks for contest. Condx poor on 20m, variable with RTTY QRM on
40m, best band 80m. G3VIP
Thanks for nice contest organisation. OK1ITK
Again a nice relaxed contest. PA0RBO
Nota chance in the evening and at night due to QRN S9+10dB. DF1SZ
Poor band conditions on Saturday evening and work on Sunday, only three
hours operating. GM0OAA
Not only making QSOs is fun, erecting and setting up the station is part
of it, too. HB9APJ
It was lots of fun again. DJ7JE
All the best for 2010. DL7AXM
A nice contest, which obviously draws more and more enthusiasts. Keep up
the good work. DL1OD
It gave me lots of pleasure to be part of it. DL4LBB
Heartfelt thanks for the nice contest. All the best for 2010, and I hope
to cuagn. OH7QR
This OQRP contest was the first time I used the ATS3B. DL3SBD
The best way to test my new K2, only a few hours. I hope next year I will
have more time and a better location. IZ4DYX
It was fun again ... DL7ARV
Called for the first hour on 20m without takers. VLP on 40m with hb 800mW
didn't work. Enjoyed a 20m QSO with Herbert in SM2. PA9M
Condxs not so good again on HF, but enjoyed the contest. G3LHJ
Kit is the famous Miss Mosquita of DL-QRP-AG. Very nice rig for this very
nice contest. Tnx. HA4FY
This was again an fb start of the New Year. DK9HE
I think conds were poor. OK1AIJ
Because of Christmas visitors only intermittend participation. It was fun
again despite 40m partially interfered with by RTTY. DK3GP
On Saturday evening I heard and worked only one LZ station. On Sunday
afternoon I worked 3 stations. My VLP TRX is still working great with its
500mW. Thank you for the fine contest. PA1B
Fb contest, the new 2x26m inverted V with feedpoint 20m up works fine.
Excellent result on 80m, but 40 & 20 yielded many multipliers, too. Also had
no problems hearing VLP stations. And will we ever know whether the UA9 who
called me on 80m was genuine? DK9OY
Very good contest. LZ2VP
With 20m of enameled copper wire thrown into a tree QRP is fun. DK6JK
In time for the contest the 80m dipole gave up its ghost, oh well. DL8HK
Sadly I had only a few minutes time to attend the contest. I hope to be
more active again in the summer. DL9FBF
I had very bad QRN during the night in 80m, so was impossible to hear a lot
of weak QR signals. However it's always a big fun. I0UZF
Had fun after all. DF3ZR
The propagation conditions were very fine here, and that together with so
many participants from all over Europe made it a very pleasent contest. OZ9KC
My first OQRP. Nice and fun contest. YU7AE
Despite QRM & QSB there were many VLP/VLP QSO - mni tks fer ur patience.
DJ3KK
Had not enough time, alas. Thus operated only a scant hour on 80m. It was
fun just the same. Hopefully next time will be more leisurely. DK6AJ
Thank you for the contest. Unfortunately, 20 m was not really open down here
in France. F5VBT
Conds were acceptable considering my aerial, the best I could get from my
new flat. From the balcony around a corner to a second floor window, and from
there down to a cellar scuttle. Participation was low, lots of unheard calls,
absolutely no success calling CQ. HB9QA
I liked the QRP contest very much. Maybe I'll also take part in the next
one. DF5BM
I lacked the power to fight the brutal QRM from Bringhausen with my valved
one of a kind TX. DJ2GL
Thank you for the dedication. DL9HCW
The Band was restless here, S5 noises of undetermined origin, and
conspicuously unstable conds/QSB. So what, the olympic spirit counts. DJ5AA
FT-7 with some contact problems, age related like the OP at 87 yrs, hi.
DJ3XK
Isn't it nice to able to use the same rig again and again without having
had to tinker with it? Conds fb on 80m, 40m distinctly better this time, 20m
usable. Reached my goal of 150 QSO. DL0VLP
It was nice to meet old friends again. DL2HWX
80m aerial defective, low activity on 20m. Took part for only a short time,
but had fun just the same. DK1WE
Didn't have much time this year, but wanted to fill at least one log page,
and I enjoyed it. Unfortunately heavy local QRM. DM4EA
I worked for 1.5 hours. It doesn't feel like a contest. Everybody takes the
time to say "hny, vy 72, gl". TS120V was solar charged, sun was so strong, I
got 70% of maximum power like in the middle of August. 9A3IV
Unprecedented conds on 40m during the day. Worked UA3, but not a single
QSO with DL. DL1JCA
I again had lots of fun. DL6UKL
The then prevailing conds prevented me from getting into a contest mood. But
I persevered - my OQRP series must not be interrupted. DL1HTX
"Wrong date" I thought on Saturday, nothing to be heard. Later signals
appeared slowly. Poor conds, lots of QRN from snowfall, but a good vibe as
always. DM4TJ
Thank you for fine and cosy QRP party. OZ4CG
80m was very bad and nearly unworkable. 40m was good. Enjoyed my 5 hours
working. GM4BKV
Spent only a short time on 80m. Almost nothing to work on 40m due to weak
signals. While I was on, the skip zone on 20m reached to the Alpes, so no DL
got into the log. LA0CX
SW40+ (1 W) - finished abt 2 hours before contest. OK2BND
It was huge fun to hear, and occaisionally even work, all the well-known
QRP & VLP stations. Extensive skip zone on 40m in DL, lots of QSB on 20m,
also strong signal attenuation. DL3RAD
TNX for nice contest. OK1DZD
